ORFF SCHULWERK, LEVEL I CERTIFICATION
The Level I, two-week course includes basic pedagogical principles and skill development in classroom applications of Orff-Schulwerk techniques in rhythmic and melodic training through speech, language, singing, body percussion, playing Orff instruments, improvisation and elemental movement. Together, learners develop simple arrangements using pentatonic scales and ostinato, bordun accompaniments and elemental forms using common meters.
Level I expands on the Introductory course by allowing all who participate to try out a wide variety of ways to teach through the Orff Process.
Process continues as the key element in Level I, for it provides the foundation also for continuing on to subsequent levels. However, if one were to unable to go on to Levels II or III and beyond, Level I provides a complete experience in the Orff Schulwerk and a thorough understanding of the many ways that this process can strongly support your teaching.
While there=s no pre-requisite for Level I, it's recommended that one have a working knowledge of music. Basic pedagogy, recorder, movement for children, and special topics provide the full spectrum of the Orff process.
The class is open to all teachers...classroom and specialists...teachers who work with special needs children, music therapists, and at-risk students.
