Join the growing number of educators moving toward
active music education in the classroom.  You will learn to teach musical skills through the imaginative use of poetry, children's literature, folk songs, pitched and non-pitched instruments, creative movement and drama.  You will explore student-tested materials, practicing yourself in a "safe learning environment" with AOSA approved instructors who use the Orff process in the classroom "now."  Based on the teachings of Carl Orff, instruction includes: basic pedagogy, movement, recorder and special topics.

In taking this course you will:

  • Leave with a comprehensive resource book to use in a K-6 general music curriculum.
  • Gain renewed vitality in teaching.
  • Feel more confident teaching the elements of music in a process-oriented program.
  • Discover how movement/dance and playing instruments can combine with singing and chanting to create a multimedia approach that is enormously successful.
  • Receive a certificate upon successful completion of course.

All courses follow the AOSA guidelines for training in the Orff-Schulwerk.
