Workshop Information
Registration for all workshops begins at 8:30 AM. Workshops start promptly at 9:00 a.m. Walk-ins welcome; register at
the door. The workshops will be held at the Orange County Department of Education and workshop participants will receive
notes prepared by clinicians. Selected vendors will be present at most workshops for your shopping convenience. Please
respect our clinician’s work by making vendor purchases at 8:30, during breaks, and at lunchtime. Wear comfortable
clothes for movement; bring a sack lunch; come prepared to sing and play instruments; and bring your recorders.

Membership Information
Active Chapter Members receive free admission to all workshops, as well as newsletters and workshop reminders. Individual
School Membership may be purchased by individual schools for a yearly fee of $125.00 and entitles any two teachers from the
same school to attend each of the workshops. District Membership entitles full workshop access to all District personnel.
Encourage your district to join. Each workshop satisfies professional growth hours for the 5-year clear credential.

Drawing from John Medinas Brain Rules, this workshop will look ateach of 12 principles of brain-friendly teaching as they are realized in an inspired Orff Class. Using material for all ages,this workshop offers hands-on experiences just right for the childs way of learning. Participants can expect to come away with activities that motivate and inspire and focus their teaching and advocate for the non-negotible importance of the arts.

Cultural Diversity Rules Yall!: A Renaissance Of Music Teaching And Learning Through Drama In The Music Classroom
This session will provide examples of how classroom teachers and music specialists can use drama and the Schulwerk to help us celebrate our cultural differences as Americans. In addition to examples of literature that reflect our nations cultural diversity; rhyme, rhythm, song, playing instruments, listening and movement will serve as vehicles through which theliterature will be creatively realized.

We will examine the idea of construction in the classroom, specifically how we design activities, build lessons, and develop performances. Participants will experience kid-tested activities appropriate for grades K-5.
